METAL COATING METHOD ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The appearance and performance characteristics of a polymeric resinous coating are improved by treating the coating with an aqueous rinse composition containing a coalescing agent. The coating is formed on a metal surface by contacting the surface with an acidic aqueous coating composition having dispersed resin particles, wherein the thickness or weight of the coating formed on the surface is controlled by varying the time the surface is contacted with the coating composition.
