The present invention relates to a metal container or component part (1) of a metal container (e.g. a can end or sidewall of a can body), having an aperture (5) defined by a cut edge (6) about the periphery of the aperture, with a cover element (7) sealed to the outward-facing surface of the can end so as to extend over and cover the aperture. A film of lacquer (4) is directly applied (without the presence of an intermediate primer layer) to the inward-facing of the container/component part so as to coat the entirety of the cut edge and all or part of the inward-facing surfaces of both the can end and that part of the cover element located radially inward of the cut edge, thereby inhibiting corrosion of the cut edge. The invention is particularly suitable for can ends. The invention also relates to a method of making a can end to the invention.
La présente invention concerne un récipient métallique ou une partie composante (1) d'un récipient métallique (par exemple une extrémité de canette ou une paroi latérale d'un corps de canette), ayant une ouverture (5) définie par un bord découpé (6) autour de la périphérie de l'ouverture, avec un élément de couvercle (7) scellé sur la surface dirigée vers l'extérieur de l'extrémité de canette de façon à s'étendre sur l'ouverture et la recouvrir. Une pellicule de vernis (4) est directement appliquée (sans la présence d'une couche primaire intermédiaire) sur la surface dirigée vers l'intérieur du récipient / partie composante de façon à revêtir la totalité du bord découpé et tout ou partie des surfaces dirigées vers l'intérieur de l'extrémité de canette et de cette partie de l'élément de couvercle placé radialement vers l'intérieur du bord découpé, empêchant ainsi la corrosion de ce dernier. L'invention est particulièrement appropriée pour les extrémités de canette. L'invention concerne également un procédé permettant de créer une extrémité de canette à l'invention.
