The invention is directed to a thermally sprayable powder having grains comprising: a core of solid lubricant particles comprised of at least graphite and MoS2 (others may include Bn, NaF, LiF, CaF2, and WS2); and a thin, soft metal shell (Ni, Co, Fe, Zn, Sn, Mg, or Cu) encapsulating such core. Some core particles may also be hard, wear-resistant particles from the group consisting of SiC, NiCrAl, FeMn, FeCrAl, FeWNiVCr, NiCrMoVW, FeCrMoWV, CoFeNiCrMoWV, NiCrMoV, and CoMoCrVW. The invention also discloses a solid lubricant coating system for a metal wear interface subject to high temperatures and wet lubrication, comprising: (a) particles of an oil-attracting solid lubricant mixture having at least graphite and MoS2, (b) soft metal shells encapsulating the particles and being fused together to form a network of grains constituting a coating fusably adhered to the metal interface, the coating having a porosity of about 2-10 % by volume. Further, the invention discloses a method of making an anti-friction coating on metal surfaces such as cylinder bore walls of an engine.

L'invention concerne une poudre pulvérisable thermiquement et comportant des grains composés d'un noyau de particules lubrifiantes solides comprenant au moins du graphite et MoS2 (d'autres peuvent comprendre Bn, NaF, LiF, CaF2 et WS2) et d'une enveloppe mince en métal doux (Ni, Co, Fe, Zn, Sn, Mg ou Cu) enrobant ledit noyau. Certaines particules de noyau peuvent être également des particules dures et résistantes à l'usure du groupe constitué par SiC, NiCrAl, FeMn, FeCrAl, FeWNiVCr, NiCrMoVW, FeCrMoWV, CoFeNiCrMoWV, NiCrMoV et CoMoCrVW. L'invention concerne également un système de revêtement lubrifiant solide conçu pour une face de contact d'usure métallique soumise à des températures élevées et à une lubrification humide et comprenant: (a) des particules d'un mélange lubrifiant solide, attirant l'huile et comportant au moins du graphite et MoS2, (b) des enveloppes en métal doux enrobant les particules et fusionnées, de façon à constituer un réseau de grains formant un revêtement adhérant par fusion à la face de contact métallique, ledit revêtement possédant une porosité d'environ 2-10 % envolume. De plus, l'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un revêtement antifriction sur des surfaces métalliques, telles que des parois d'alésage de cylindre d'un moteur.
