ABSTRACT A method of making a fastener from a sheet of material characterized by the steps of forming opposed offset circular openings in the material. Opposed circular head end portions are formed surrounding the openings. Opposed offset elongated prong portions extend from the opposed periphery of the head end portions. The prong portions are lanced to form inner and outer prongs. The inner prong is displaced out of the plane of the surface of the outer prong to facilitate separation of the prongs. The periphery of the circular openings is displaced out of the surface of the material to form a sunburst. The stock between the opposed prong portions is removed and the completed fastener is also removed from the material thereby forming each fastener with a circular head end portion having only one elongated prong portion extending therefrom.
