A metallic material having, formed thereon, a chromium oxide passive film, characterized in that the metallic material has a surface roughness (Ra) of 1,5 µm or less and the passive film is formed by a method comprising coating the metallic material with chromium and then subjecting the resultant coated material to a heat treatment in an oxidizing gas atmosphere. The present invention can be used for forming a chromium oxide film which contains no oxide film of another metal and is excellent in corrosion resistance on an arbitrary type of metal at a low cost in a short period of time, and thus for providing a system for supplying a highly corrosive fluid in safety.

Matériau métallique revêtu d'une film passif d'oxyde de chrome, caractérisé par une rugosité de surface (Ra) égale ou inférieure à 1,5 µm. Le film passif est formé par un procédé qui consiste à revêtir de chrome le matériau, puis à soumettre le matériau revêtu ainsi obtenu à un traitement thermique dans une atmosphère constituée d'un gaz oxydant. Le procédé de l'invention peut être utilisé pour former un film d'oxyde de chrome ne contenant pas de film d'oxyde d'un autre métal. Le matériau de l'invention, qui possède une excellente résistance à la corrosion sur n'importe quel type de métal et peut être produit à faible coût et rapidement, permet de transporter un fluide très corrosif en toute sécurité.
