ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A transducer material responsive to electromagnetic energy, especially to microwave and radio frequency energy, comprises a heat sensitive material having a characteristic which varies in response to heating thereof, and a high permit- tivity, high loss dielectric material which changes its tempera- ture in response to the energy. The heat sensitive material comprises vanadium oxide, and the dielectric material comprises barium titanate and is thermally associated with the vanadium oxide for transferring heat to the latter. The vanadium oxide may be doped or coated with the barium titanate. The transducer material may be used e.g. to coat potential targets to deceive enemy radar.
