Abstract: Described is a method for the production of metal oxides, in particular mixed metal oxides such as ceria/zirconia, and metal oxides obtainable by said method. Due to high enthalpy solvents with a high carboxylic acid content said metal oxides have improved properties. For example ceria/zirconia has excellent oxygen storage capacity at high zirconium levels up to more than 80 % of whole metal content.

L'invention concerne un procédé de production d'oxydes métalliques et plus particulièrement d'oxydes métalliques mélangés, à base de cérium et de zirconium, par exemple, et des oxydes métallique pouvant être obtenus à l'aide de ce procédé. Le procédé utilise des solvants à haute enthalpie ayant une teneur élevée en acide carboxylique, permettant d'obtenir des oxydes métalliques présentant des propriétés améliorées. Par exemple, les oxydes de cérium et de zirconium ont une excellente capacité de stockage de l'oxygène lorsque la concentration de zirconium représente plus de 80 % de la teneur totale en métal.
