METAL SUPPORT BRACKET FOR A SIDE RAIL FOR A DECK ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION A metal bracket for a side rail of a deck includes a vertical tubular leg, a horizontal flat strap welded to the top of the leg, an inclined strap attached to a rear edge of the horizontal strap and a second hori- zontal strap portion across the upper edge of the inclin- ed rear strap. The lower edge of the leg can be attached to the side of the deck. Decking planks can be laid across the horizontal strap, along the inclined rear strap and across the top of the second strap portion to define a seating area along the side of the deck with screws fastened from the underside of the straps into the under surface of the planks.
