1 PHN. 9437 ABSTRACT: The invention relates to a high-pressure sodium vapour discharge lamp which has a discharge vessel in which xenon and a xenon-absorbing substance are present. The xenon is absorbed partly in the absorbing substance and releasing from it when the temperature is raising. The dosing of absorbing substance and xenon in relation to discharge vessel volume V is such that at 300 K the xenon pressure P has a value which satisfies 1 kPa ? P ? 25 kPa and the mass M in kg of the absorbing substance satisfies the relation Image in which W is the absorbing coefficient. Herewith it is achieved that a lamp is obtained having good ignition pro- perties and a high xenon pressure in the operating condition of the lamp, resulting in a large luminous flux.
