METALLIC ARTICLES HAYING NACREOUS APPEARANCE Abstract of the disclosure: A process for the production of a metallic article having semi-bright or matt nacreous appearance, comprising the steps of coating a metallic substrate with a clear paint comprising a curable resin vehicle and a nacreous pigment selected from oxides and salts of elements of Groups IV and V of the Periodic Table, to form on the metallic substrate a clear paint coating in which the nacreous pigment is arranged in substantially lamellar or undulated form, and then curing the paint coating on the metallic substrate thereby to produce the metallic article. In one embodiment, the metallic substrate may preferably be chemically treated to form a corrosion-resistant film thereon prior to coating with the clear paint.
