Title METALLIC CORE GASKET Abstract of the Invention An intake manifold gasket includes a soft metallic core designed for effective sealing under low bolt load applications. The gasket is formed of a malleable, ductile, non-ferrous core, preferably of aluminum, and includes a plurality of spaced apertures, each bounded by an embossment. Laminated to at least one of a pair of opposed planar surfaces of the core is a composition facing layer which includes aramid fibers for enhancing temperature resistance and strength. The result is an improved gasket having greater conformability under low crush loads, yet subject to less post-compression relaxation than conventional steel core gaskets. 2980
