It is disclosed a new class of bridged metallocene compounds of formula (I) wherein R1 and R2 can be hydrogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkylaryl or arylalkyl radicals; R3 and R4 form a condensed, 5- to 8-membered, aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic ring; M is a transition metal of groups 3, 4, 5, lanthanide or actinide; X is hydrogen, halogen, -R, -OR, -OSO2CF3, -OCOR, -SR, -NR2 or PR2, wherein R is an hydrocarbon substituent; and p is 0-3. Furthermore, a catalyst system for olefin polymerization based on the above bridged metallocene compounds and the ligands for their preparation are disclosed.

L'invention concerne une nouvelle catégorie de composés de métallocènes à pont représentés par la formule (I) dans laquelle R?1¿ et R?2¿ peuvent être des radicaux hydrogène, alkyle, cycloalkyle, aryle, alkylaryle ou arylalkyle; R?3¿ et R?4¿ constituent un noyau condensé, aliphatique, aromatique ou hétérocyclique comportant 5 à 8 éléments; M représente un métal de transition des groupes 3, 4, 5, lanthanide ou actinide; X représente hydrogène, halogène, -R, -OR, -OSO¿2?CF¿3?, -OCOR, -SR, -NR¿2? ou PR¿2?, dans lesquelles R représente un substituant hydrocarbure; p est 0-3. Elle concerne, de plus, un système catalyseur de polymérisation d'oléfines basé sur les composés mentionnés ci-dessus, ainsi que les ligands servant à les préparer.
