Compounds of general formula (I) wherein X is a -CO2H, -NH(OH)CHO or -CONHOH group; R1 is a cylcoalkyl, cycloalkenyl or non-aromatic heterocyclic ring containing up to 3 heteroatoms, any of which may be (i) substituted by one ore more substituents selected from C1-C6 alkyl, C2-C6 alkenyl, halo, cyano (-CN), -CO2H, -CO2R, -CONH2, -CONHR, -CON(R)2, -OH, -OR, oxo-, -SH, -SR, -NHCOR, and -NHCO2R wherein R is C1-C6 alkyl or benzyl and/or (ii) fused to a cycloalky or heterocyclic ring; and R2, R3. R4 and R5 are as defined in the specification are matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors.

L'invention se rapporte à des composés de la formule générale (I) dans laquelle X représente un groupe -CO2H, -NH(OH)CHO, ou -CONHOH; R1 représente un groupe cycloalkyle, cycloacényle ou hétéro-cyclique non aromatique contenant jusqu'à 3 hétéroatomes, n'importe lequel d'entre eux pouvant être (i) substitué par au moins un substituent sélectionné par alkyle C1-C6, acényle C2-C6, halo, cyano (-CN), -CO2H, -CO2R, -CONH2, -CONHR, -CON(R)2, - OH, -OR, oxo-, -SH, -SR, -NHCOR, et NHCO2R où R représenente alkyle C1-C6 ou benzyl et/ou pouvant être (ii) soudé à un noyau cylcoalkyle ou hétérocyclique; et R2, R3, R4 et R5 sont tels que définis dans la demande. Ces composés sont des inhibiteurs de métaloprotéinases matricielles.
