A metallothermal reaction mixture of iron oxide and aluminum, and, optionally, additional additives, including at least about 20% by weight of iron oxide present in a spherical form or at least approximately spherical particles ranging in size between about 0.1 and 2.0 mm, the aluminum being present in a form which deviates from the spherical and is predominantly irregular in shape with a particle size of > 0 to about 1.5 mm.

Mélange réactionnel métallothermique d'oxyde de fer et d'aluminium ainsi que, facultativement, d'additifs; il renferme au moins 20 % environ en poids d'oxyde de fer présent sous forme sphérique ou au moins approximativement sphérique, d'environ 0,1 à 2,0 mm de diamètre; l'aluminium s'écarte de la forme sphérique et présente un contour généralement irrégulier, avec une taille variant de > 0 à environ 1,5 mm.
