- An Abstract - This is a fourteen (14) gauge metal Meter Shield with two (2) 1 " X 1 " X 1/8 " X 48 " long legs with tapered points to penetrate the grade surface. It is positioned over the gas meter and it is pushed or driven into the ground to secure it at three (3) inches above the height of the gas meter. When installed it protects the gas meter from the elements of rain, ice and snow, etc., thus eliminating a build-up in the vent shield of the gas meter -
