A metered dose inhaler (10) for a pressurized canister (16) of medicament having a stem (18) re- ceived in a directing element (23), the inhaler having a counter (36) sealed in an enclosure (30) and having a switch (42) activated by the canister (16) when de- pressed to release a dose of medicament, the switch (42) being isolated from the hollow interior of the in- haler (20).
