-1- ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The process involves Carbon-Michael addition of acetoacetoxyethyl methacrylate monomer with unsaturated polyesters. The resulting multifunctional methacrylate-pendant polyester is useful in coating such as gel coats or glass reinforced plastics which give higher impact resistant materials with superior weathering properties as compared with conventional polyester/styrene compositions. The material can also be cured by ultraviolet or electron beam radiation.
