A process for bleaching pulp by impregnating the pulp with an aqueous organic solvent medium and then bleaching in an ozone stage (Z stage) to form a bleached pulp characterized in that organic solvent in the organic solvent medium accompanying the pulp through the ozone stage is stripped from the bleached pulp leaving the ozone stage and the separated organic solvent is recovered for reuse.

Un procédé de blanchiment de pâte à papier, consistant à imprégner la pâte d'un milieu à solvant organique aqueux et à la blanchir dans une zone de blanchiment à l'ozone (zone Z), se caractérise en ce que le solvant organique dans le milieu à solvant organique accompagnant la pâte à travers la zone de blanchiment à l'ozone est extrait de la pâte blanchie lorsqu'elle quitte ladite zone, le solvant organique séparé étant récupéré pour être réutilisé.
