Abstract The invention relates to a method and a measuring and cutting device for working a wall joint notch in a natural log which during measuring and cutting phases is preferably spaced from the next log in the wall crosswise underneath and whose back will be placed in the notch in question, in which method means for measuring and cutting are provided and wherein by moving said measuring means forced against said log, in places preferably corres- ponding to the sides of the notch after positioning, at least a half turn around said log, the same movement pattern at said cutting means is effected by actuator means synchronized together, enabling said cutting means to duplicate the profile of the log back in the notch in the lower part of said log.
