The invention concerns a method and an algorithm for using surface waves. In particular the method uses mode separation and, by means of the dispersion curve of more than one mode in the inversion process, enables to determine a propagation speed gain of shear waves which, with the Poisson ratio gain, constitutes a unique solution and a complete characterization of an environment concerning its elastic properties.

Une méthode et un algorithme permettant l'utilisation des ondes de surfaces. En particulier, la méthode utilise la séparation des modes et, au moyen de la courbe de dispersion de plus d'un mode dans le processus d'inversion, permet la détermination d'un profit de vitesse de propagation des ondes de cisaillement qui, avec le profit du coefficient de Poisson, constitue une solution unique et une caractérisation complète d'un milieu du point de vie de ses propriétés élastiques.
