S P E C I F I C A T I O N Title of the Invention: A METHOD AND AN APPARATUS FOR THE CONTINUOUS PRE-TREATMENT OF A CLOTH Abstract of the Disclosure: A method for the continuous pre-treatment of a cloth in the processing thereof comprising transporting a cloth continuously through the steps of impregnating the cloth with a liquid containing a treating agent, subjecting the cloth to the reaction with the said treating agent by the wet heat treatment under a high temperature and high pressure water vapor at a temperature above 100°C and washing the thus treated cloth in succession with no need of piling the cloth in each of the said steps. An apparstus therefor comprises a liquid tank, one or more high pressure steamers and one or more washing tanks arranged in succession, in which each of the said liquid tank, high pressure steamers and washing tanks has no cloth piler, difference in height between the cloth inlet level and cloth outlet level of each of the said three ingredients is not larger than 3 m, and entirely no cloth guider is provided in the apparatus. The said liquid tank, high pressure steamers and washing tanks are desirably provided respectively with a plurality of guide rolls to guide the cloth zigzag therethrough.
