ABSTRACT The application of end plates to packing container bodies is done customarily in that preformed end plates are placed in the desired position and are sealed with the help of sealing jaws, which as the material is thermoplastic comprise means for heating the material. The sealing jaws operate with large forces and -the arrangement is relatively complicated. A simpler method and an arrangement for the application of an end plate to a packing container body is proposed in accordance with the invention which operates with a heated end blank consisting of thermoformable material which by means of a pressure difference between the two sides of the blank is vacuum-formed over the end of the packing container body and is sealed to its end zone. The arrangement comprises a vacuum chamber adapted to the shape of the packing container.
