A method and apparatus for utilizing unused power available in an elevator that is not fully loaded to improve the traffic handling capacity of an elevator system (1). The present invention can be used to provide an optimized velocity profile for an elevator based on the pre-designed power of the drive motor (11) and the actual load in the elevator. The invention can achieve velocities higher than the design velocity of the elevator system (1). The method also utilizes surplus torque available to the motor (11) during a trip to produce an optimized velocity profile that has a short trip time, yet does not exceed the torque deliverable by the motor (11) and does not exceed acceptable discomfort levels to the passengers or the mechanical limitations on the system (1).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil destinés à utiliser la puissance disponible d'un ascenseur qui n'est pas chargé complètement afin d'améliorer la capacité de trafic du système. Cette invention peut être utilisée afin de fournir un profil de vitesse optimisé de l'ascenseur reposant sur la puissance nominale du moteur d'entraînement et la charge présente dans l'ascenseur. L'utilisation de la puissance disponible permet d'obtenir de vitesses plus importantes que la vitesse pour laquelle le système est conçu. Le procédé utilise aussi le couple résiduel disponible du moteur lors d'un déplacement afin de produire un profil de vitesse optimisé rendant le déplacement plus court, sans cependant dépasser le couple que le moteur peut fournir et sans excéder des niveaux d'inconfort inacceptable pour les passagers ou dépasser les limitations mécaniques du système.
