An active noise control system for effective control of higher order modes of noise propagation within a duct is disclosed. A plurality of error sensors is disposed within an error sensors plane, which plane is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the duct. The disclosed process and apparatus minimizes the mean square distance between the points of the area associated to each error sensor. The resulting arrangement of error sensors optimizes the overall area that the error sensors can control and consequently the global efficiency of the controlling system.

Ce système de lutte active contre le bruit est efficace contre les modes de propagation de bruit d'ordres élevés qui surviennent dans une conduite. Des capteurs d'erreur sont disposés dans un plan de capteurs d'erreur qui est perpendiculaire à l'axe longitudinal d'une conduite. Ce procédé et ce dispositif permettent de limiter à un minimum la distance quadratique moyenne séparant des points d'une zone associée à chaque capteur d'erreur. Le positionnement ainsi obtenu pour ces capteurs optimise la zone globale qu'ils peuvent surveiller et donc l'efficacitée globale du système de lutte.
