Dans une première voie d'analyse ampérométrique, on y ajoute un composé chimique (nitrite par exemple) qui trans- forme sélectivement le chlore libre en chlorure, puis un iodure et, éventuellement, un tampon à pH 4Ø L'iode de l'iodure est libérée par le chlore et les chloramines. La cellule ampéromé- trique de cette première voie mesure alors la teneur en chlore combine. Dans une deuxième voie d'analyse ampérométrique qui ne comporte pas l'addition de composé, la cellule ampérométri- que mesure la teneur en chlore total. On calcule la différence entre les résultats de ces deux mesures.
