A B S T R A C T A toroidal member is mounted on first frame means so as to be rotatable about its axis. Second frame means are positionable adjacent the first frame means, the second frame means having means mounted thereon for feeding and depositing a strip of elastomeric material onto the surface of the toroidal member. The means for depositing the strip of elastomeric material onto the surface of the toroidal member include a single layup wheel positioned adjacent the toroidal member to press the elastomeric material thereagainst, As the toroidal member rotates about its axis, a micro-switch is tripped by the leading edge of the strip of elastomeric material deposited on the surface of the toroidal member, and the sensing by such switch actuates a cutting apparatus for cutting the trailing end of the strip of elastomeric material, such cutting taking place so that the trailing edge is deposited on the surface of the toroidal member in end-to-end relation with the leading edge deposited on the toroidal member.
