ABSTRACT A method of handling pipe coated with foam insulation immediately after the coating operation is completed and before the foam is completely cured is disclosed in a case where the foam is characterized by an absence of any rigid protective coating. The method comprises positioning an inflatable member beneath the coated pipe and inflating the member to a pressure sufficient to support only a portion of the weight of the coated pipe without causing damage to the foam insulation.
