ABSTRACT A method and apparatus are provided for artificial irrigation of plants. An irrigation container is located at a certain depth in the earth in the area to be irrigated, the container having substantially smaller dimensions than the area to be irrigated. The container is filled with water and has a perforated or slotted top. One or more hollow feet extend through the lid and have perforated bottoms. The feet are immersed in the water and earth is filled into the feet and over and around the container so that the container is entirely covered. Then the plants are planted in the earth above the container.
