ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An automated radioimmunoassay apparatus which comprises means for time controlled incubation of a multiplicity of sample solutions, radioactivity detector means, means for introducing the incubated sample into the radioactivity detector means; timing means, recording means coupled to the detector means, means for separating a kinetically measured solution into two portions, means for introducing one of the portions from the separating means into the radioactivity measuring means, and means for isolating an incubated sample from additional sample solutions introduced into the apparatus for assay, wherein the isolating means is activatable by a control signal emitted from the timing means, whereby the isolating means isolates the system at a first predetermined signal from the timing means, and whereby the isolating means reconnects the system to the incu- bation means at a second predetermined signal from the timing means, wherein the second predetermined time period is set so as to enable sufficient time to complete the static measurements before the next incubated sample arrives in the detection means for the next sequential kinetic measurement of radioactivity. The apparatus is useful for assaying the concentration of antigen or antibody in a sample by an immunoassay technique.
