A method for automatically focusing on a slide (201) includes the steps of locating a coverslip (401-411), acquiring images from predetermined focal depths in the slide (412), and starting at an initial focal depth proximate the surface of the coverslip (202). A set of predetermined characteristics within each of the images are measured (511) to generate at least one image measurement for each of the plurality of images. A focus measure is computed (511) for each of the images, where each focus measure is a function of at least one image measurement. A best focus location is determined (512) relative to a focal depth where an acquired image has a highest focus measure.
Méthode de focalisation automatique sur une lame (201). La méthode comporte les étapes consistant à positionner une lamelle (401-411), à réaliser l'acquisition d'images à partir de profondeurs de champ prédéterminées sur la lame (412), puis commencer par une profondeur de champ initiale proche de la surface de la lame (202). Un ensemble de caractéristiques prédéterminées dans chaque image est mesuré (511) pour obtenir au moins une mesure d'images pour chacune des images de la série. Une mesure de focalisation est calculée (511) pour chacune des images, chacune de ces mesures de focalisation étant fonction d'au moins une mesure d'image. La meilleure position de focalisation est déterminée (512) par rapport à la profondeur de champ selon laquelle l'image acquise présente la mesure de focalisation la plus élévée.
