ABSTRACT The invention relates to a method for automatically measuring aiming errors and correcting aiming values in the aiming and firing of ballistic weapons and to an apparatus implementing this method. A fire control device supplies continuously the azimuth and elevation of a target position measurement corrected for daily influences and superelevation, the gun aiming values and the instantaneous time of flight of the projectile. The corrected azimuth and elevation values of the target are compared with the aiming values after these values have been stored for a time corresponding with the time of flight or a fraction of the time of flight. The results of this comparison are used for correcting the gun aiming values.
