ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The bronzing of cigarette paper is achieved by impinging finely-divided particles, usually finely-divided metal particles, suspended in an air stream against the surface desired to be bronzed and bearing an outline in wet adhesive of the desired pattern. Some of the metal particles adhere to the adhesive to provide the desired bronzing. The finely-divided particles are conveyed to the application unit in an air stream and excess particles are conveyed away from the application unit in an air stream the air conveyances to and from the application unit being achieved using flowing air streams formed by a centrifugal fan which also communicates with a cyclone separator.
