A carbonylation process for producing acetic acid including: (a) carbonylating methanol or its reactive derivatives in the presence of a Croup VIII metal catalyst and methyl iodide promoter to produce a liquid reaction mixture including acetic acid, water, methyl acetate and methyl iodide; (b) feeding the liquid reaction mixture at a feed temperature to a flash vessel which is maintained at a reduced pressure; (c) heating the flash vessel while concurrently flashing the reaction mixture to produce a crude product vapor stream, wherein the reaction mixture is selected and the flow rate of the reaction mixture fed to the flash ves-sel as well as the amount of heat supplied to the flash vessel is controlled such that the temperature of the crude product vapor stream is maintained at a temperature less than 32.2° C (90° F) cooler than the feed temperature of the liquid reaction mixture to the flasher and the concentration of acetic acid in the crude product vapor stream is greater than 70% by weight of the crude prod-uct vapor stream.
L'invention porte sur un procédé de carbonylation, pour la production d'acide acétique, qui comprend : (a) la carbonylation de méthanol ou de ses dérivés réactifs en présence d'un catalyseur métallique du groupe VIII et d'un promoteur iodure de méthyle, pour obtenir un mélange réactionnel liquide comprenant de l'acide acétique, de l'eau, de l'acétate de méthyle et de l'iodure de méthyle; (b) l'introduction du mélange réactionnel liquide à une température d'alimentation dans une cuve de vaporisation qui est maintenue à une pression réduite; (c) le chauffage de la cuve de vaporisation tout en effectuant simultanément une vaporisation du mélange réactionnel pour produire un courant de vapeur de produit brut, le mélange réactionnel étant choisi et le débit du mélange réactionnel introduit dans la cuve de vaporisation ainsi que la quantité de chaleur apportée à ladite cuve de vaporisation étant ajustés de façon que la température du courant de vapeur de produit brut soit maintenue à une température inférieure à 32,2 °C (90°F), plus froide que la température d'alimentation du mélange réactionnel liquide allant vers la cuve de vaporisation et que la concentration d'acide acétique dans le courant de vapeur de produit brut soit supérieure à 70 % en poids du courant de vapeur de produit brut.
