ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus are provided for carrying out a wet metallurgical process with at least one gaseous reactant in a closed vessel wherein the gaseous reactant is vigorously vi- brated in the closed vessel with a second reactant comprising at least one of a liquid and a solid at a frequency of at least 15 Hz and an amplitude of more than 8mm, the vibrating being in a first plane substantially perpendicular to a second plane con- taining a major axis of the vessel, such that the first and second reactants are intimately mixed.
