A method for channel response estimation over a fast fading channel (50) and signal estimation using a coded pilot is disclosed. A coded orthogonal frequency division modulated (OFDM) signal is generated including a main signal portion (10) and a coded pilot signal portion (25). The coded OFDM signal is transmitted over a fading channel (50) to a receiving unit wherein the received portion (72) of the main signal is detected and an estimation is made of the frequency response of the fading channel using the coded pilot signal portion (74) of the transmitted signal. The detected received main signal and the estimated channel frequency response are then used to estimate the signal. This determination may be based upon a channel inversion (95) of the frequency response or new channel estimation (125) combined with maximum likelihood sub-sequence estimation (130).
On décrit un procédé d'estimation de réponse de voie sur une voie (50) à évanouissement rapide et d'estimation de signal à l'aide d'un pilote codé. On génère un signal modulé à répartition en fréquence orthogonal codé qui comporte une partie (10) de signal principal et une partie (25) de signal pilote codé. Le signal modulé à répartition en fréquence orthogonal codé est transmis sur une voie à évanouissement (50) à une unité de réception dans laquelle la partie reçue (72) du signal principal est détectée et une estimation est faite de la réponse fréquentielle de la voie à évanouissement à l'aide de la partie (74) du signal pilote codé du signal transmis. Le signal principal reçu et détecté et la réponse fréquentielle de la voie estimée sont ensuite utilisés pour estimer le signal. Cette détermination peut être fondée sur une inversion (95) de voie de la réponse fréquentielle ou sur une nouvelle estimation (125) de voie combinée avec l'estimation (130) de la sous-séquence la plus probable.
