Method and apparatus for collecting vaginal fluid and exfoliated vaginal cells for medical diagnostic purposes. An absorbent media (16, 25) is placed interlabially or intravaginally. Fluid is collected within the absorbent media (16, 25). The absorbent media (16, 25) is removed, and the fluid is extracted therefrom. For intravaginal collection, the absorbent media (16, 25) may be placed in a housing (31, 33, 35) having apertures (37) for permitting fluid to enter the inside of the housing (31, 33, 35). Medical diagnostic testing is performed on the extracted fluid.
La présente invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de prélèvement de fluide vaginal et de cellules de desquamation vaginale en vue d'un diagnostic médical. Le procédé consiste à disposer un milieu absorbant (16, 25) entre les lèvres ou dans le vagin, le fluide passant à l'intérieur du milieu absorbant (16, 25). Le procédé consiste ensuite à ôter le milieu absorbant (16, 25) et à en extraire le fluide. Pour un prélèvement intravaginal, le milieu absorbant (16, 25) peut être disposé à l'intérieur d'un étui (31, 33, 35) muni d'orifices (37) laissant le fluide pénétrer à l'intérieur de l'étui (31, 33, 35). Les examens de diagnostic médical se font ensuite sur le fluide extrait.
