There is provided methods and systems for optical imaging in a turbid medium that combine continuous wave (CW) and time domain (TD) or frequency domain (FD) approaches to substantially increase robustness of optical imaging as well as to reduce acquisition times associated with the TD approach. In one aspect, a method is provided that uses CW measurements to scale the values of a temporal point spread function (TPSF) or phase/intensity modulation signal to avoid physical unit mismatch problems. In another aspect, both CW and TD or FD measurements are synergistically combined to estimate optical properties of the medium used in image reconstruction. Optical systems capable of realizing these methods are also provided.

L'invention a trait à des procédés et à des systèmes d'imagerie optique dans un milieu trouble, qui combinent les approches ondes entretenues (CW) et domaine temps (TD) ou domaine fréquence (FD), afin d'augmenter sensiblement la robustesse de l'imagerie optique, et également de réduire les temps d'acquisition associés à l'approche TD. Dans un aspect, l'invention concerne un procédé qui fait appel à des mesures CW pour réduire les valeurs d'une fonction d'étalement temporel (TPSF) ou d'un signal de modulation de phase/intensité, afin d'éviter les problèmes de décalage entre unités physiques. Dans un autre aspect de l'invention, les mesures CW et les mesures TD ou FD sont combinées de manière synergique, afin que l'on puisse évaluer les propriétés optiques du milieu utilisé pour la reconstruction d'images. L'invention se rapporte également à des systèmes optiques permettant de mettre en oeuvre lesdits procédés.
