ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus for compacting granular material, especially materials of the nature of carbides and ceramics and the like in which the material is entrained in a liquid to form a slurry and is centrifuged to cause the material to form a compact in the slurry. In one form in which the invention is practices, the compact is formed in a mold enclosed which is insoluble in the liquid of the slurry and which is soluble in another material and the mold is removed from the compact by softening or dissolving the mold from the compact.
