ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of compacting product into containers. Firstly, place product to be compacted into a tubular supporting frame defining a compaction chamber. The compaction chamber has a first end and a second end. A removable closure/support is positioned at the second end. Secondly, insert a compaction ram into the first end of the compaction chamber. upon relative movement of the supporting frame and the compaction ram a compaction force is exerted upon product within the compaction chamber. Thirdly, remove the removable closure/support from the second end of the compaction chamber and use the compaction ram to push the compacted product from the compaction chamber into a container.
