There is provided methods and apparatus (2) for collecting water from ambient air. The apparatus has at least one condensation surface which is cooled to, or below, the dew point of the ambient air. The cooling of the condensation surface is effected by utilising a gas to reduce the partial pressure of refrigerant vapour to effect evaporation of liquid refrigerant. Water in ambient air that contacts the cooled condensation surface condenses and is collected. There is also provided apparatus for effecting cooling and/or heating.

L'invention concerne des procédés et un appareil servant à recueillir l'eau de l'air ambiant. L'appareil (2) comporte au moins une surface de condensation qui est refroidie à une température inférieure ou égale au point de rosée de l'air ambiant. Le refroidissement de la surface de condensation est mis en oeuvre au moyen d'un gaz, qui réduit la pression partielle de la vapeur réfrigérante afin d'évaporer le liquide réfrigérant. L'eau contenue dans l'air ambiant et qui entre en contact avec la surface de condensation refroidie se condense et est recueillie. L'invention concerne aussi un appareil de refroidissement et/ou de chauffage.
