METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONNECTING ELECTRICAL CABLES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a method of and to an apparatus for attaching cables to cutting-clamping terminals, wherein the cables have insulator sheaths which are relatively thick in comparison with the diameters of their cores. A precutting device is provided having a lever of U-shaped cross-section which is mounted on the shank of an applying hand tool. The inner sides of the laterial walls of the U- shaped lever carry arcuate knives. These knives remove, at a predetermined contact area of a cable, two portions of insulating material from the insulating she 11, so that the contemplated contact area can be more readily forced into a slot of the cutting-clamping terminal. The means on the shank for forcing the cable core into the slot comprises insertion ribs at one end of the applying hand tool, the other end of which his adjacent to a hollow arcuate handle.
