ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A continuous or quasi-continuous process for contacting a fluid with a particulate solid is carried out in two or more stationary resin beds disposed in different bed compartments of a tower. The resin beds are cyclically and alternately renewed with regenerated resin from a regeneration station. Each time a bed has been renewed, the feed of the fluid to be treated is switched such that it passes through the renewed bed. - 1 -
