The invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling the dissociation of water into hydrogen and oxygen, the method including contacting a quantity of aqueous liquid with a quantity of dissociation initiating material in a reaction vessel; monitoring the temperature and/or pressure in the reaction vessel; monitoring the surface area of dissociation initiating material in contact with the aqueous liquid; and controlling the surface area of dissociation initiating material in contact with the aqueous liquid in response to the temperature, pressure, or both, or changes therein, or both, in the reaction vessel.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant de commander la dissociation de l'eau en hydrogène et en oxygène. Ce procédé consiste à mettre en contact une quantité d'un liquide aqueux avec une quantité d'un matériau initiateur de dissociation dans une cuve à réaction; à contrôler la température et/ou la pression dans la cuve à réaction; à contrôler la superficie du matériau initiateur de dissociation en contact avec le liquide aqueux; puis à commander la superficie dudit matériau en contact avec le liquide aqueux en réaction à la température, à la pression ou aux deux, ou encore, en réaction à des modifications dans la cuve à réaction.
