An apparatus and method affords, to authorized persons, access to one or more lockable areas of one or more gaming machines (30). Each area includes a door or switch and an associated electrically operable lock mechanism (40) which controls access to the area either directly, or indirectly by controlling enablement of an associated manual key-operated latch assembly. Each machine has a local processor (32) communicating with a central host computer (21) and with lock processors for each of its lockable areas. Personnel identification and access authorization data is stored at the host computer. (21) Part of the data may also be stored on personal data cards, respectively assigned to individual persons. A person seeking access inputs identification data at the machine (30) and the host computer (21) responds with signals to unlock lock mechanisms (40) for areas which the person is authorized to access.
L'invention porte sur un appareil et un procédé permettant de donner l'accès à des personnes autorisées à une ou plusieurs parties verrouillables d'un ou plusieurs appareils de jeux de hasard (30). Chaque partie comporte une porte ou commutateur et un mécanisme associé de verrouillage électrique (40) qui commande l'accès à la partie directement, ou indirectement en actionnant au moyen d'une clé un ensemble manuel associé. Chaque appareil de jeu (30) possède un processeur local (32) communiquant avec un ordinateur central (21) et avec des processeurs de verrouillage pour chacune des parties verrouillables. Des données d'autorisation d'accès et d'identification personnelle sont stockées au niveau de l'ordinateur central (21). Une partie des données peut également être stockée sur des cartes de données personnelles affectées à des personnes individuelles. Une personne recherchant un accès introduit des données d'identification dans l'appareil de jeu (30), et l'ordinateur central (21) répond à des signaux afin de déverrouiller des mécanismes de verrouillage (40) dans les parties où la personne est autorisée à accéder.
