2115031 9307037 PCTABS00021 An anti-spin apparatus (100) for a vehicle is disclosed. The vehicle is articulated and has at least one axle set (118) with at least two driven wheels (101, 103). The anti-spin apparatus (100) includes braking mechanisms (131, 133) which controllably apply braking forces to each of the driven wheels. A controller (160) produces a slip signal having a value responsive to the difference in rotational velocity between the wheels (101, 103) of the axle set (118). A transducer (165) produces an articulation signal having a value responsive to the angle of articulation of the vehicle. Further, a microprocessor (205) receives the slip signal and the articulation signal, controllably modifies the slip signal in response to the value of the articulation signal. The microprocessor (205) then compares the modified slip signal with a first predetermined reference value, and produces a braking control signal in response to the modified slip signal value exceeding the first predetermined reference value. Finally, one of the braking mechanisms (131, 133) receives the braking control signal and controllably applies the braking forces to the faster rotating wheel (101, 103) in response to the received signal.
