A venturi (30) is arranged in the circulating fluidized bed reactor, through which the particle suspension flows from the lower portion (28) of the reactor to the upper portion (28) of the reactor, so that a fluidized bed is formed in both the upper and lower portions of the reactor. From the particle suspension, withdrawn from the upper portion of the reactor, particles are separated in a particle separator (12). A portion of the particles separated in the particle separator is recycled to the lower fluidized bed and a portion to the upper fluidized bed.
