ABSTRACT A metallurgical process is supplied with oxygen- enriched air produced by passing the air through a crystal lattice material, e.g. a molecular-sieve, capable of adsorbing nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water. Consumption of fuel in the process may be reduced as the off gas from the process may have a higher calorific value imparted to it, without needing to apply the process with supplementary oxygen derived from air distillation processes.
