A process and apparatus are provided for cooling gaseous effluent from a hydrocarbon pyrolysis furnace, the cooling conduit apparatus comprising: (i) an inner wall for contacting the effluent, the inner wall defining a bore extending a length of the cooling conduit, the inner wall including a perimeter opening along the bore; (ii) an outer wall external to the inner wall and substantially coaxial to the inner wall; (iii) a substantially annular cavity external to the inner wall and including at least a portion of the outer wall, the annular cavity fluidly and remotely connected to the perimeter opening, the annular cavity externally surrounding a perimeter of the inner wall, the annular cavity including at least a portion of the outer wall; and (iv) a peripheral channel extending around a perimeter of the inner wall, the peripheral channel providing a channel flow path that fluidly connects the annular cavity with the remotely connected perimeter opening along the perimeter of the inner wall.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil de refroidissement d'un effluent gazeux provenant d'un four de pyrolyse d'hydrocarbures. L'appareil conduit de refroidissement selon l'invention comprend : (i) une paroi interne destinée à venir en contact avec l'effluent, ladite paroi définissant un alésage s'étendant sur la longueur du conduit de refroidissement, la paroi interne comportant une ouverture de périmètre le long de l'alésage ; (ii) une paroi externe à la paroi interne et sensiblement coaxiale à celle-ci ; (iii) une cavité sensiblement annulaire, externe à la paroi interne, comprenant au moins une partie de la paroi externe, ladite cavité étant reliée à distance en communication de fluide à l'ouverture de périmètre, la cavité annulaire entourant de façon externe le périmètre de la paroi interne et comprenant au moins une partie de la paroi externe ; et (iv) un canal périphérique s'étendant autour du périmètre de la paroi interne, ledit canal formant un trajet d'écoulement de canal reliant en communication de fluide la cavité annulaire à l'ouverture de périmètre reliée à distance, le long du périmètre de la paroi interne.
