ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for cooling reduced material from reducing processes, such as finely-granular ore, for example nickel- laterite ore, characterized in that the reduced material is cooled in a fluidized-bed cooler operated with oxygen-free waste gas from the reducing process and an apparatus for re- ducing reducible material such as finely-granular ore, for ex- ample nickel-laterite ore, using a reducing reactor traversed by reducing gas and a cooler for cooling the reduced material, characterized in that the reducing reactor is a multi-stage furnace, followed by a fluidized-bed cooler, the material end of which is connected to the outlet from the multi-stage fur- nace, while the gas end thereof is connected to the waste-gas line carrying the used reducing gas away from the furnace. . ,
