ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Method and apparatus is disclosed for processing stumps and other felling waste into chips or the like. The processing is effected virtually simultaneously with stump extraction. The stumps and similar waste such as branches or the like are mechanically disintegrated. Impurities such as stones are separated from the crushed chips and discharged insitu. The apparatus combines helical rotor cutters with suitable counter tools and a discharge device. The disintegration unit is so arranged that virtually all of the impurities are removed from the wood material prior to or during the chipping process. The advance is in an efficient transportation of the wooden material from the side of extraction to the processing plant.
